Trout Creek Rental Staffs Favorite's

We know that we are very lucky to live in beautiful northern Michigan. We get to live, work and enjoy a place where everyone else comes to vacation and play. We thought that you might be interested in some of the "Staff Favorites". Interestingly, geographically, the staff lives in four different communities in the area, we are from different eras and have very diverse interests.

Harbor Springs: This community is postcard picturesque. Stroll the streets anytime but if you are lucky enough to be here on Thursdays during the summer months, you will love the Street Musique program. Visit the quaint shops, art galleries, view the historic homes and walk the pier while checking out all of the sailboats. A visit to Tom's Mom's Cookies is an absolute must. Get some fudge at Kilwin's or lunch at Turkeys on Main Street. (the pizza is awesome!) Dudley's Deck overlooking the marina at Stafford's Pier Restaurant is a great choice for a meal or a drink.

Debby

Petoskey: Debby lives in this richly historic and beautiful community. Petoskey is home of the gorgeous views of Little Traverse Bay and the "Million Dollar Sunsets." Be sure to take some time to spend at the the waterfront...there is nothing more therapeutic. Magnus Park is a popular site for looking for Petoskey Stones, which is a favorite activity up here. Petoskey State Park is one of the most popular Parks in the State of Michigan. It has beautiful sand and even some sand dunes. The Gaslight Shopping District is the place for unique shopping and dining. Our favorite food places in Petoskey include: Roast & Toast, Julienne Tomatoes, Mitchell Street Pub, the Noggin Room and the City Park Grill. If you love Mexican food...make sure that you visit Jose's. Awesome! Back to Debby, you will find her either biking on the Little Traverse Wheelway along the shores of Lake Michigan or cruising the 38 mile Inland Waterway all summer with her family on their ski boat and swooshing down the slopes of Nubs Nob and Boyne Highlands all winter on her skis. She just bought new ski equipment so she is the only one in the office that cannot wait until the snow flies! With Debby, it is all about family. You will find them at  Filmores Restaurant on Sunday mornings, at all of the festivals and music performances and at her favorite restaurant in the world, The Douglas Lake Bar and Steakhouse (also known as the DLB)
for something special.

Chris

Boyne City is a small, quaint, welcoming community. In Boyne they "Stroll the Streets" on summer Friday nights listening to music on every corner. Every Wednesday and Saturday morning, it is off to the great Farmer's Market and in May, Boyne City hosts the National Mushroom Festival. Chris, the resident golfer, lives in Boyne City. Her favorite eating establishments are Water Street Cafe for the chicken salad and the Argonne Supper Club for the best whitefish or shrimp in the North. She also loves lunch on the decks of Hidden River Golf and Casting Club or Little Traverse Bay Golf Club. When Chris is not at Trout Creek, you will find her on an area golf course...she has played almost all of them!  Among her favorites are Hidden River, Dunmaglas, and Little Traverse Bay.  She also loves spending time with her many friends, being near the water, biking, walking, reading on her deck or napping in her hammock. In the winter, snowshoeing is a favorite. She also enjoys some of the Bay View activities including attending the Bell Choir Concert.

Nikki

Alanson/Pellston:

With having 2 small children, we go on many "adventures."  Our favorite places in the area would have to include the Oden State Fish Hatchery, the waterfront area of Petoskey, Northern Lights Recreation, and Pond Hill Farm.  We also enjoy taking day trips in the summer and we love to do the Upper Peninsula loop that includes Garlyn Zoo, Oswald's Bear Ranch, and Tahquamenon Falls...this is an ALL day trip, but well worth it in the end.

We have quite a few new things to add to our list of adventures, so stay tuned for updates!

Beautiful Tunnel of Trees

Collectively, we all love a ride through the Tunnel of Trees with a lunch of Polish cuisine at Legs Inn... Chris says that the potato pancakes are almost like her Grandmother's. Also up that way is Sturgeon Bay which is great.

We also all love Mackinac Island. We sell Shepler's ferry tickets to the island at a discount. FYI, the 10:00 am ferry makes a side trip under the Mackinac Bridge which is pretty amazing.

The 26 mile Little Traverse Wheelway is the coolest. It is the absolute best place to ride bikes or walk. For your biking needs we suggest Latitude 45 in Petoskey. The staff is awesome...super friendly and helpful. Debby is a big fan. We also love Bear Cub Outfitters in Petoskey for outdoor gear and the Windjammer Marina (save 10% when you rent a boat or jet skis from them while you stay with us). We send lots of our guests to the Brutus Camp Deli for breakfast. You will get great portions and great food at a great price. For lunch and dinner we send many guests to Northern Lights Recreation, Teddy Griffins Roadhouse and the Side Door Saloon. All great. Want to dine in? Call B.C. Pizza...yummy pizza,
bread sticks, salads and more.

Have fun enjoying some of our favorites. Let us know what you have
done or how we can help get you information on your favorite things to do!
