Northern Michigan is blessed with thousands of lakes and rivers that are all calling your name. Staying at Trout Creek will put you right in the middle of some of the best kayaking and canoeing that Michigan has to offer. A short car ride will put you into a number of local watering holes where you can spend the whole day basking in the sun.

There are a number of canoe liveries located in the surrounding areas ready to handle all of your paddle sport needs. The Bear River Canoe Livery offers service on Bear River, which runs peacefully from Walloon Lake through Petoskey's back country, emptying into Little Traverse Bay at the waterfront.

The Outfitter in Harbor Springs gives you the option to rent a boat and take it wherever adventure leads. A beautiful paddle awaits you in the harbor just down the street where they dock some of the finest yachts on Lake Michigan. You can paddle along Harbor Point, enjoying a glimpse of some of the most upscale homes in the area. No trip in the harbor is complete without a swim at the end of the peninsula overlooking the harbor and the rest of Little Traverse Bay.

Servicing the Sturgeon River is Big Bear Adventures, located in Indian River about 20 minutes from Trout Creek. They are a family friendly adventure outlet offering canoe, kayak, raft, tube, and "Cat" or inflatable kayak rentals. Tours are available year round and they have an on-site miniature golfing course.
