Little Traverse Bay on Lake Michigan
The deepest harbor in Lake Michigan is Little Traverse Bay. The resort towns of Harbor Springs and Petoskey are both located on this beautiful bay.
Little Traverse Bay has a significant amount of parkland on the waterfront including the Petoskey waterfront, the Harbor Springs waterfront and the Petoskey State Park. The Little Traverse Wheelway offers 26 miles of scenic views while bike riding and walking. Another beautiful ride is on the North Western Michigan State Trail. This trail will take you all the way to Mackinaw City! A popular spot to stop for a break is the Dairy Queen in Alanson.
Bring a blanket or beach chair and enjoy the Million Dollar Sunset. The views are breathtaking.
During the warmer months, the fresh, clean water in the Bay is great for boating, sailing, kayaking and swimming. Salmon fishing is also a very popular activity at the mouth of the Bear River.
