Hello All!

My name is Nikki Leech and I am the Rental Manager of Trout Creek Condominium Resort. I would like to share some of the adventures that I like to take with my husband and kids during the summer. There is a common misconception that northern Michigan in the summer is going to have a large price tag but it doesn’t have to.

Oden State Fish Hatchery – Walk the trails, take a free tour and learn what the hatchery is all about. Or go back to the retired fish pond to feed them. Watch the trout monsters jump out of the water to gobble it all up…don’t forget to bring some quarters with you.

Petoskey Waterfront – Head down to walk on the bike path and stop at Magnus Park to hunt for Petoskey Stones. From the waterfront area to East Park (near Bay Harbor) the walk is 2.25 miles. Pack a picnic and take a break at East Park for lunch or a snack and let the kids play on the playground. Don’t want to continue your walk? Head the opposite way, catch a softball game in the evenings, sit on the grass & watch the sunset…that never gets old!

Pennsylvania Park – Grab an ice cream from Kilwin’s or Murdick’s (right next to the park) or a coffee from North Perk Coffee. Go sit on the grass under one of the enormous trees and just breathe…my kids love to balance on the train tracks and ‘race’. If you’re lucky and are there at noon on a Tuesday or Friday, catch a little concert at the gazebo.
